As offshore wind development accelerates in the North Sea, new electricity cables are increasingly required to connect offshore farms to land – often crossing the Wadden Sea.

In the beginning of May, the midterm meeting of the German-Dutch Wadden Sea Research Programme in Wilhelmshaven provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the scientific progress of the six funded Projects and share knowledge and utilisation products.

The meeting underscores the importance of coordinated cooperation for the sustainable development of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site.

The meeting included sessions in Husum, Germany, and Thyborøn, Denmark, alongside visits to the pilot sites at the Halligen islands and the Lodbjerg–Nymindegab area.
